UAG lauds armed forces personnel for discipline, respect

The Unity Advocacy Group (UAG) has lauded personnel of the  Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their discipline and respect, adding that they were key to their successe in peacekeeping operations and global recognition.

The group added that the AFN, under the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, has demonstrated committment in maintaining discipline and respect for constituted authorities.

Convener of the group, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, stated this in a statement on Thursday against the backdrop of the unfortunate incident between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike and a naval officer, Lieutenant  Yerima, in Abuja,

UAG while describing the incident as unfortunate, praised the officer’s high level of discipline and respect.

“UAG describes the incident between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and a naval officer, Lieutenant Commander Yerima, at a disputed site in Abuja as unfortunate, especially when both have a common head in the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

“We however commend the discipline and respect shown by the young officer. His attitude during the altercation with the Honourable Minister is a reflection of what has endeared our troops in and outside the country.

“He has shown that the Armed Forces, under the able leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, are disciplined”.

” UAG is confident that the AFN, under the present CDS, will continue to show respect to constituted authorities and the President and Commander in Chief, Bola Tinubu.

“UAG urge Nigerians to continue to support our troops. They are making sacrifices for peace, unity and stability. We must support and encourage them,” the Group added.
