UAG hails military for neutralising over 90 bandits, terrorists, lauds appointment of Oluyede as CDS


A non-partisan advocacy group, the Unity Advocacy Group has lauded troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for decisively crushing scores of bandits in the North West, saying the military has demonstrated unwavering commitment in the fight against insecurity in all parts of the country.

This is contained in the press release signed by UAG Convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion.

Blueprint report that in a recent operation, troops neutralised no fewer than 80 armed bandits attempting to infiltrate Kebbi state from the Zamfara border.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris Zuru, in a statement released on Sunday.

In same vein, troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralised 10 terrorists and recovered arms, ammunition and equipment in fresh encounters along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno.

Also, troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralised four logistics suppliers linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a series of coordinated ambush operations in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno state.

Meanwhile, UAG has hailed the appointment of Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, describing him as equal to the task.

The Group said that in the short time he held the position of the Chief of Army Staff, he exhibited high level of professionalism.

“We commend the appointment of Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff. We are confident that during his tenure, the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to deal decisively with agents of darkness who causing crisis in the country.”

“The new CDS is well tested and equal to the task of leading our troops as we tackle insurgency and banditry in the country,” UAG added.
