UAE Temporarily Suspends New Tourist And Work Visas For Nine Countries

The United Arab Emirates has announced a temporary suspension on the issuance of new tourist and work visas for citizens of nine countries, effective immediately.

According to officials, the move is part of the UAE’s updated visa policies for 2026, designed to address national security, migration management, and public health concerns.

The countries affected by the suspension include Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Sudan, and Uganda.

According to Nigerian Tribune, authorities clarified that the decision does not impact individuals who already hold valid UAE visas. Those with existing visas can continue to travel to and reside in the country without restrictions. However, new applications from the listed nations will remain on hold until further notice.

Sources suggest the suspension is linked to a combination of security challenges, migration control measures, and health-related precautions.

The policy shift is expected to have far-reaching effects on citizens of the affected countries, disrupting travel plans and limiting employment opportunities in the UAE.

Job seekers from Bangladesh, Sudan, and Cameroon—who have traditionally played key roles in construction, domestic services, and retail sectors—are expected to face the greatest impact.

The tourism sector is also bracing for setbacks, with airlines, hotels, and travel agencies reporting an increase in booking cancellations from African and South Asian visitors.

Officials advise citizens of the suspended countries to remain updated through verified government sources. Individuals can check the status and validity of their current visas via the UAE’s official online visa system or the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) portal.

Once the restrictions are lifted, nationals from the affected countries will be able to submit fresh visa applications through the UAE’s digital platforms, consulates, embassies, and licensed immigration centers.
