Gunmen have attacked Daron village in Gyel District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing two people and injuring one.

Residents told journalists that the gunmen stormed the community on Tuesday night, shooting sporadically.

Confirming the development on Wednesday in Jos, Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, President of the Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM), said the attack was preceded by an early warning of planned attacks on villages in Gyel and neighboring settlements.

Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, confirmed the incident, but said his men repled the attack.

The commissioner further explained that “ there was an incident that happened last night in that community. Our men responded swiftly but unfortunately we recorded two dead. The good thing is that we repealed the attack. The attackers were successfully repelled. We are working hard to arrest the perpetrators of the attack and prevent further occurrence of such incidents.”
