Two Dead, Six Injured In Maiduguri Road Crash


Two people lost their lives, and six others were injured in a road traffic accident at Police Commissioner Junction in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Friday.

The collision involved a Howo truck, a Toyota Corolla, and two tricycles, authorities confirmed.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) stated that the truck’s brake failure was the primary cause of the accident.

According to Nigerian Tribune, all eight individuals involved were adult males. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, while six sustained injuries of varying severity.

Corps Commander Usman A. Muhammad, head of the FRSC Sector Command in Borno State, confirmed that emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the location.

“The injured have been rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, and the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the hospital mortuary,” Commander Muhammad said.

He expressed condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a full and swift recovery.

Commander Muhammad also advised motorists to drive cautiously, comply with traffic laws, and carry out regular vehicle maintenance to avoid similar incidents.
