Two Abductors Of Minors In Katsina Police Net

KATSINA – Katsina state Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers who abducted two minors in Faskari LGA of the state and demanded the sum of six million naira ransom from their families.

DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer disclosed this while parading the suspects in Katsina on Friday.

He said the suspects, one Yahaya Sani, age 45, and Ikra Aminu, age 22, of Bilbis village, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state, were arrested after a thorough investigation and tracking of the phone number they used to demand ransom.

According to him, on January 17, 2025, the two minors, one Amir Abubakar, age 6, and one Abba Abubakar, age 9, all of Faskari LGA, Katsina State, were abducted by the suspects. The suspects subsequently contacted the families of the victims via GSM, demanding a ransom in exchange for their safe release.

He added that, upon receipt of the report, the Command’s operatives swung into action, successfully tracked the phone number used by the suspects to demand ransom, leading to their arrest.

During investigation, he said the suspects confessed to have conspired with Dan Garba Bilbis, Yusuf Hayin Gada, and Hamisu Dinkin Bado, now at large as their conspirators. Investigation is still ongoing.

Similarly, the state command image maker said on the 31st January, 2025, at about 2200 hrs, the command arrested one Umar Lawal, age 18, of Ibrahim Coomassie road, GRA Katsina, in connection with a suspected case of attempt to commit culpable homicide by poisoning the food of his intended target.

Further investigation, he added revealed that the suspect had also committed bestiality on three separate occasions, an offence which contravene section 214 of the penal code. Investigation is ongoing.

In another development, the command has successfully busted two syndicates of suspected vandals and thieves in connection with a case of vandalisation and theft of armoured cables in Batagarawa and Mashi Local Government Areas of the state.

The suspects, he said were arrested on the 21st of January, 2025, following a tip-off on the activities of the syndicates who had been terrorising the two LGAs during a sting operation as a large quantity of armoured cables and a plier used for their illegal operations were recovered in their possession.

During the course of the investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and further mentioned one Lamma, and one Ibrahim, m., now at large, as their conspirators.

Efforts are being made to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds.
