TS Academy awards over ₦1 billion in scholarships to 3,000 Africans, expanding access to tech education

TS Academy (Tech Sphere Academy) has awarded over ₦1 billion worth of scholarships to 3,000 Africans, marking a major step toward its goal of helping young people across the continent access digital and technology education.

The initiative is part of TS Academy’s effort to make the tech industry more inclusive by creating pathways for Africans to start and grow careers in technology. The selected beneficiaries will receive comprehensive training in AI & Automation, DevOps Engineering, Software Engineering, Product Design, Cybersecurity, Project Management and Data Analytics, among other areas, with classes set to begin in earnest.

Each scholarship goes beyond classroom learning, as students will gain access to mentorship, learning tools such as laptops, and direct job pathways through TS Academy’s growing network of tech communities and hiring partners.

Commenting on the launch of the scholarship, Adetola Durojaiye, Founder of TS Academy, said:

“There are thousands of Africans who have the talent and drive but don’t have the access, tools, or guidance to start their tech careers. This scholarship helps bridge that gap by giving people a fair chance to learn, grow, and connect to opportunities.”

Since its launch, the academy has received applications from across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa, with its curriculum designed to blend hands-on learning with industry exposure. Each participant will learn directly from experienced instructors and complete practical projects that prepare them for immediate employment.

“Access is the missing piece for most people who want to work in tech, and we are helping them overcome those barriers, from getting a laptop that allows them to learn smoothly, to connecting them with jobs and mentors who guide their next steps,” Durojaiye added.

Beyond the training, TS Academy is building an ecosystem that supports learners long after they complete their courses. This includes access to a community of peers, mentorship programs, and job-matching initiatives designed to help graduates transition into full-time tech roles.

For many recipients, the scholarship is a life-changing opportunity. Moyin Opaniyan, a beneficiary of the TS Academy scholarship, expressed his joy upon receiving the scholarship.

“I’ve always wanted to learn software development, but I couldn’t afford it. This opportunity is giving me a chance to start a tech career and change my life.”

With Africa’s digital economy projected to create over 230 million jobs by 2030, TS Academy’s work aligns with broader efforts to close the skills gap and position Africans for global opportunities.

“Our goal is to prepare Africans for the jobs of tomorrow, and tech shouldn’t be an exclusive space. With the right support, anyone can build a meaningful career in it,” said Durojaiye
