Troops Rescue Six Kidnapped Children In Katsina Village


Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working alongside police operatives and community vigilante teams, successfully rescued six kidnapped children in Gidan Maga village.

The incident occurred in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, highlighting the ongoing efforts of security forces to protect vulnerable communities.

The rescue took place on Monday,  following an attempted abduction by armed gunmen who invaded the community.

According to a statement from the Katsina State Police Command, the security forces engaged the attackers in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon the children and flee into the nearby Naalma Forest.

The rescued children were identified as Abdulhakim Rilwanu, 12; Zinatu Mansir, 10; Ado Sani, 9; Sani Umar, 10; Yusuf Umar, 10; and Jamilu Nasiru, 11.

Fortunately, all the children were unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.

Speaking on the incident on Monday, August 26, 2025, a spokesperson for Operation FANSAN YANMA, Major Bashir Abubakar, said, “Our troops acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the victims.

“The safety and security of our communities remain our top priority, and we will continue to pursue the fleeing suspects in the forest until they are apprehended.”

Security forces have since intensified search operations in Naalma Forest to capture the perpetrators.

Residents of Gidan Maga and surrounding communities have expressed relief over the rescue but continue to call on authorities to strengthen security measures, citing frequent attacks and abductions in the region.
