In a decisive overnight operation, troops of 28 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully thwarted a large-scale terrorist assault on communities in Chibok, Borno State.
More than 300 heavily armed terrorists launched a coordinated attack from multiple directions at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, intending to overrun the area.
Thanks to timely intelligence and high alertness, the troops quickly occupied defensive positions and engaged the attackers with overwhelming firepower.
The intense gun battle lasted over two hours, during which the soldiers held their ground and prevented the terrorists from entering adjoining towns.
As dawn broke, the terrorists began a chaotic retreat toward the Azir axis and Sambisa Forest, attempting to cross the Damboa–Biu Main Supply Route.In a well-coordinated response, troops of 25 Brigade laid ambushes ahead of Azir Bridge while a Nigerian Army UAV provided real-time guidance.
The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai simultaneously deployed a Super Tucano aircraft, forcing the fleeing terrorists to scatter.No soldiers were killed and no equipment was lost in the operation.
Exploitation and pursuit operations are ongoing around Chibok, with forces actively tracking the escaping terrorists to deny them freedom of movement.
The Nigerian Army commended the professionalism and resilience of the troops involved and reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting citizens and defending the nation’s territorial integrity.
