Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised an Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, fighter and recovered weapons during an ambush along the Banki axis of Borno State.
The operation, carried out between November 13 and the early hours of November 14, targeted terrorists moving through the Bula-Daloye–Mandara Mountain route.
According to information obtained by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the ambush team intercepted gunmen riding on motorcycles and carrying assorted weapons. The troops reportedly opened fire, forcing the terrorists to flee in disarray.
“During the exploitation of the area, troops recovered one terrorist’s body, an AK-47 rifle, two magazines and two motorcycles,” one of the sources said, adding that several others escaped with gunshot injuries.
No troop casualty or equipment loss was recorded in the operation.
The ambush is part of ongoing efforts by the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai to restrict terrorist movement and degrade their operational capability in the region.
