Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), scored a major victory against insurgents on October 18, 2025, recovering ₦4.77 million in cash, weapons, and logistics items after an encounter along the Maiduguri–Damboa Road in Borno State.

While patrolling the Main Supply Route (MSR) near Masta Fanameri, soldiers from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Molai spotted suspected terrorists on bicycles.

The insurgents fled into nearby bushes upon seeing the troops, leaving behind ₦4,770,000 in cash, six new Tecno mobile phones, bicycles, solar units, bags of garri, lamps, and other supplies.

A follow-up search operation was conducted, but the terrorists evaded further contact. In separate operations, troops from the 26 Task Force Brigade and 222 Battalion in Gwoza and Konduga Local Government Areas neutralized two terrorists and seized two AK-47 rifles, magazines, grenades, uniforms, and motorcycles.

They also intercepted a truck carrying 170 empty gas cylinders, suspected to be part of the terrorists’ logistics network, significantly disrupting their supply chain.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to Operation Desert Sanity IV, aimed at restricting terrorist movements and securing vital routes across the North East.

“Our troops remain vigilant in dismantling terrorist operations to ensure peace in the region,” a spokesperson said.
