Nigerian troops have successfully dislodged the Mamuda-led bandit stronghold in Dekara Forest, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, in a joint inter-state operation involving security forces from Niger, Oyo, and Kwara States, alongside personnel from the National Park Service, Kainji.
The operation led to the neutralization of several bandits and the destruction of their hideouts.
This was revealed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X handle on Wednesday.
According to intelligence sources cited by Makama, the inter-agency task force launched the offensive at about 1:00 PM on Tuesday.
Further intelligence suggests that the wives of some fleeing bandits have sought refuge in Gidan Zana Village, also in Borgu LGA.
Security forces are currently conducting a mopping-up operation across the Dekara axis to ensure the total clearance of criminal elements in the area.
