Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested 17 suspected vandals across the Niger Delta.
They also seized over 45,000 litres of stolen petroleum products, the military disclosed on Sunday.

Acting Deputy Director of the 6 Division, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, stated that the operations were part of ongoing efforts to safeguard national assets.
He added that the missions also aimed to curb economic sabotage across the Niger Delta.
“Our troops have intensified patrols along routes notorious for oil theft, restricting the movement of saboteurs and disrupting their supply lines,” he said.

In Rivers State, soldiers on patrol around Okarki Community in the Ahoada West Local Government Area intercepted a Toyota 4Runner SUV carrying over 1,600 litres of suspected stolen diesel.
The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. Additionally, 23 sacks containing refined petroleum products were recovered, while in Degema, a wooden boat transporting petroleum products was seized.
At Obiafor in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, soldiers uncovered a vandalised pipeline and recovered stolen condensate.
The recovered items included a 250-metre hose, three-inch metal pipes, and six sacks containing 300 litres of illegally refined AGO.
In Delta State, troops stormed an illegal storage hub at Ogwu Community, Warri South Local Government Area, recovering a tanker truck filled with diesel and a large storage facility holding over 20,000 litres of AGO.
Other items seized included pumping and metering machines, two empty tanks, and a 20,000-litre capacity tanker truck.
Bayelsa State raids in Biseni, Yenagoa Local Government Area, led to the destruction of dugout pits and refining sites, while a Toyota Camry carrying over 600 litres of AGO was intercepted in Okordia.
Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma added, “These operations are crucial to restoring environmental integrity across the Niger Delta and limiting the activities of economic saboteurs.”
The Army affirmed its commitment to continuing patrols and operations to protect national resources and the environment.
