In a decisive ambush, troops from Operation Hadin Kai eliminated a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgent during a targeted operation in the Kirawa general area of Borno State.
The joint effort involved soldiers working alongside Hybrid Forces and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members.
It unfolded late Thursday along the Gakara–Kirawa axis, as part of the broader Operation Mountain Sanity II/Desert Sanity IV/Diligent Search initiatives.
A military source confirmed that the forces intercepted a group of insurgents suspected to be transporting logistics supplies.
“The troops unleashed superior firepower on the terrorists, neutralizing one on the spot while the rest escaped, likely sustaining gunshot injuries,” the source stated.
A subsequent sweep of the area yielded key recoveries: two bicycles, three bags of semovita, 200 sachets of salt, 19 wrappers, and 11 bottles of energy drinks, items believed to be destined for terrorist hideouts. No casualties were reported among troops or civilians.
The Nigerian military continues to ramp up aggressive operations across the Timbuktu Triangle and Lake Chad regions to disrupt terrorist supply lines and restrict their mobility.
