Transfer to Milan stalled by medical issues

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface will return to Bayer Leverkusen today following medical concerns after his move to AC Milan was stalled.

The 24-year-old underwent several tests at La Madonnina clinic and Galeazzi Hospital in Milan over the past 48 hours, but was sent back to Germany.

Reports say the delay is linked to Boniface’s injury history, including two prior cruciate ligament tears during his time at Bodø/Glimt in 2019 and recurring muscle issues.

As a result of the above, Milan made the decision to adopt a cautious approach.

Sharing an update on the situation on Sunday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Milan are not satisfied with Boniface’s medical assessments as he has yet to meet their stringent standards.

“After medical tests at AC Milan, Victor Boniface returns to Germany, as there’s still no green light to his move.

“After 48 hours in Milano, Boniface will be back in Leverkusen today, waiting for AC Milan’s imminent decision on his medical tests/checks made over the weekend,” Romano said.

Part of the deal between Milan and Leverkusen includes a €5 million loan fee and a €24 million purchase option.
