Trafficking: NAPTIP intercepts 13 Iraq-bound girls, seals Abuja hotel

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Tuesday said it intercepted 13 girls suspected to be victims of human trafficking en route Baghdad, the Iraqi capital for what it called sexual and labour exploitation.

With the support of its partners, it said the girls whose ages range between 19 to 39 years were allegedly deceived and recruited by some faceless unregistered labour recruiters suspected to be agents of a larger criminal labour recruiting gang operating between Nigeria and some Middle East countries.

The Nigerians were intercepted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, shortly before departing for Iraq.

Similarly, the operative of the agency said it sealed up a popular Three Star hotel located at the ever-busy community of Kwali, Kwali area council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and rescued 11underaged girls suspected to be used for sexual expedition.
