Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, has dropped a fresh hint that former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi and former President Goodluck Jonathan may contest the 2027 presidential race.
Moro hinted that Obi may return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and contest the 2027 presidency, while talks are also ongoing to bring back Jonathan to run on the party’s platform.
Naija News reports that the PDP chieftain dropped the hint on Tuesday while speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He confirmed that certain individuals are speaking to the duo to encourage them to return to the party.
“So, in the run-up to 2027, I am aware certain individuals have been talking to Peter Obi, ‘Hey, come back home, this is what we are likely to do, and if you come, you stand a chance of being the candidate,” Moro said.
When asked about the possibilities of ex-President Jonathan returning to the PDP, Senator Moro said, “Some persons are talking to the former president to come and run. It is a possibility.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has questioned the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to unveil the zoning of their presidential tickets two years before the 2027 elections.
He argued that such actions send a message to Nigerians that the political elites don’t care about them and are only interested in power-grabbing.
Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television, Abdullahi said the early announcement by the PDP and APC suggests that the two parties are either playing a predetermined game or trying to lure particular individuals who fit the description to become their presidential candidates.
