1. FG May Sell NNPC Refineries – Tinubu’s Energy Adviser
The Federal Government has expressed readiness to sell the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) refineries if the right technical and financial partners are found, according to Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Energy.
Naija News reports that Verheijen disclosed this in an interview with Bloomberg TV on the sidelines of the ADIPEC Energy Conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Tuesday. She said the plan is part of broader reforms to enhance competition and efficiency in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector.
The presidential aide explained that selling the refineries was one of several options under consideration to revitalise the sector.
She noted that Nigeria’s state-owned refineries have been sustained for years through government subsidies, a practice that distorted the petroleum market.
The University of Jos branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has urged the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, to stop making misleading statements regarding the Federal Government’s fulfilment of agreements with university workers.
Naija News reports that the Jos branch chairperson, Prof Jurbe Joseph Molwus, in a statement on Tuesday, warned that the union may resume its suspended strike if the issues remain unresolved within the next two weeks.
Recall that ASUU had, on October 22, 2025, issued a four-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to meet its outstanding demands or risk a total strike.
However, the union stated that two weeks after the ultimatum, not much progress has been made, as they have yet to receive their withheld salaries, wage award arrears, and other entitlements.
ASUU also expressed concern that the ₦50 billion Revitalisation Fund, which the government claimed to have released weeks ago, has not reached any university.
The Federal Government has announced that it is willing to work with the United States and other countries to wipe out remnants of terrorists and criminal elements in Nigeria.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris stated this during a world press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
Idris asserted that the insecurity situation in Nigeria is not driven by religion.
He explained that in the last two years, President Bola Tinubu has deepened his commitment to dealing with insecurity, evident in the country’s improved standing on the Global Terrorism Index and recent change of security service chiefs.
He called on the United States and other nations to support President Tinubu in ridding the menace of criminals and terrorists making life unbearable for Nigerians.
The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdulrahman Mohammed, has cancelled the proposed national convention scheduled for Ibadan, Oyo State.
Mohammed stated that he had received the Certified True Copy of the recent judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, delivered by Honourable Justice Omotosho in Suit FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025.
He suspended the convention alongside the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu and some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) in a press briefing on Wednesday.
The Nigerian government, through the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has stated that it is aware of the insecurity crisis plaguing the country.
He stated that the government has taken note of the position of the United States government on Nigeria over alleged violations of religious freedom.
The Minister stated this while addressing the press in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to him, Nigeria faces longstanding security challenges that have impacted Christians and Muslims alike, adding that President Bola Tinubu is more than determined to confront and end these security challenges.
The Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, has alleged that officials working around President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa demand bribes before granting access to the President.
Naija News reports that Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District, made the claim during an interview on Arise Television while reacting to the growing diplomatic tensions between Nigeria and the United States.
The lawmaker lamented that it has become almost impossible for even senior government officials and lawmakers to meet with the President without going through intermediaries who allegedly demand bribes.
The senator used the term “kakistocrats”, meaning government by the least qualified or most corrupt, to describe those in the corridors of power around Tinubu.
Ndume said he had made efforts to reach the President through formal channels to discuss important financial matters but was repeatedly frustrated by bureaucratic bottlenecks created by aides.
Members of the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State, who are relatives of popular actress Regina Daniels, have given her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, 48 hours to accept the return of the bride price paid on her.
Naija News reports that the group also urged him to stop alleged harassment and intimidation of her family members.
The demand was made in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the community.
The letter accused Senator Nwoko of disregarding local customs and using his position to oppress Regina’s relatives.
The kinsmen stated that their tradition allows a woman to leave a marriage if she chooses, and her family must return the bride price to end the union formally.
According to them, Regina’s family had made several attempts to return the payment, but Nwoko allegedly refused to accept it.
They said if he continues to reject it, the money would be placed at the Ikeleke Quarter in Ogwashi-Uku, a traditional action that would signify the end of the marriage.
Nigerian singer Waje has disclosed that she was the female vocalist on P-Square’s 2007 hit song Do Me, but did not receive any payment for her contribution.
The 45-year-old artiste revealed this during an appearance on the HonestBunch Podcast with Daddy Freeze, where she spoke about her early days in the music industry and how her voice became part of one of P-Square’s biggest songs.
Waje, whose full name is Aituaje Iruobe, said she performed the chorus of the track but was not officially credited or featured on it.
Naija News reports that she recalled moments when she would tell people that the voice on Do Me was hers, yet many doubted her because her name was not mentioned.
The singer first gained public attention after the release of Do Me, which became a nationwide hit.
She, however, was unable to appear in the music video because she did not possess a passport at the time it was filmed.
Former Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger believes Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain pose the biggest danger to his old club’s dream of winning the Champions League this season.
Arsène Wenger shared his thoughts after watching Arsenal brush aside Slavia Prague 3-0 on Tuesday night, with Bukayo Saka opening the scoring from the penalty spot and Mikel Merino netting twice in the second half to seal a commanding win.
Speaking on beIN Sports, the legendary manager said Bayern and PSG are the two non-English sides most likely to challenge for the European crown.
Wenger noted that both clubs have the advantage of focusing their energy on Europe, unlike the English teams who face a tougher domestic fight.
Portuguese professional football player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has praised United States President Donald Trump, describing him as “one of the guys that can help to change the world.”
Naija News reports that the 39-year-old superstar made the remarks during a recent interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, where he opened up about life, football, and global politics, a rare topic for the Al-Nassr forward, who typically avoids political discussions.
Ronaldo’s comments have sparked mixed reactions across social media, given his global influence and the polarising nature of Trump’s leadership.
“Donald Trump is one of the guys that can help to change the world,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan during the widely watched interview.
