According to GPI, here are the top 8 most peaceful countries in 2025
Iceland — GPI: 1.095
Iceland has held the leading position since 2008, maintaining its record as the world’s most peaceful country. The nation’s small population, low crime rates, and strong community ties contribute to its environment of trust. Police officers do not routinely carry firearms, and it is common to see babies in prams left outside cafés while parents sit inside.
Ireland — GPI: 1.260
Ireland secured the second position, marking its steady progress on the index. Known for a history of internal conflict, the country has transformed through reduced militarisation and minimal ongoing disputes. Its policy of military neutrality and a strong welfare system play a central role in its stability.
New Zealand — GPI: 1.282
New Zealand rose two places to third this year. The improvement is linked to strict gun laws and a decline in terrorism-related incidents. The country also draws strength from its Māori cultural heritage and slower lifestyle, which encourage social cohesion.

Singapore — GPI: 1.357
Singapore is the only Asian country in the top ten, ranking sixth. Despite significant military spending, the nation achieves high levels of safety and security. Strict laws, low crime, and efficient governance contribute to its performance in the index.
