Tinubu Mourns Victims of Afriland Towers Fire, Condoles with Families, FIRS, UBA, United Capital

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday expressed condolences to families and organisations affected by the fire outbreak at Afriland Towers on Broad Street, Lagos Island, which claimed lives and injured several others.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commiserated with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), United Capital, and United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, whose staff members were among the victims of Tuesday’s tragedy. He also extended sympathies to Afriland Properties Limited, owners of the building.

Tinubu assured bereaved families of his thoughts and prayers, while wishing those receiving treatment a speedy recovery. “The President extends his condolences to the management and staff of Afriland Properties Limited, the FIRS, the United Capital, UBA, and particularly those who lost loved ones in the inferno, and the injured who are currently receiving medical attention,” the statement read.

The President also commended the swift response of emergency workers, including the Federal Fire Service, first aiders, medical personnel, and members of the public who assisted during the evacuation. He described their intervention as a demonstration of “a deep sense of responsibility.”

Advising caution and preparedness, Tinubu called for increased training and vigilance to prevent future disasters of this kind.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and comfort for their families.
