Several high-profile personalities in the country have been confirmed for the 87th birthday celebration of a former Akwa Ibom state governor, Arc. Obong Victor Atta.
The event, which will take place on November 20, 2025, at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja, will feature the launch of Atta’s biography, Atta: Architect of a New Democratic Dawn.
The book will be unveiled by the publisher of Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Sam Amuka.
The founder of Uyo Book Club, Dr. Udeme Nana, disclosed this Friday at a press conference in Uyo.
According to Nana, the list of dignitaries attending the event includes former President Goodluck Jonathan, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the President of the Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio.
He said the governor of Akwa Ibom state, Pastor Umo Eno, will serve as the chief host.
“The chairman of that occasion will be no less a personality than the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, his Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and the sitting president, who incidentally was one of the colleagues of Obong Victor Atta.
He said the biography, written by veteran journalist Dr. Dele Sobo Wale, chronicles the life and achievements of Obong Atta, who served as governor of Akwa Ibom state from 1999 to 2007.
“Obong Atta is known for his advocacy for true federalism, resource control, and payment of derivation to mineral-bearing communities.
“When he talks about resource control, you see the way he advocates for a universal application of payment of derivation funds to mineral bearing communities, not restricted to oil because there is no state in this country that does not possess a mineral resource in its environment,” he said.
