The Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW) has lauded President Bola Tinubu for introducing policies and programmes aimed to ameliorate the effects of hardship in Nigeria. 

NASoW gave the commendation in its resolutions at the end of the association’s 40th Annual National Conference/ Annual General Meeting and 50th anniversary held in Osogbo, Osun state.

The association in the resolution made available to journalists in Ibadan Tuesday noted that the federal government under President Tinubu deserved commendation for the policies and programmes.

NASoW appealed to the federal government to constitute and inaugurate the Nigerian Council for Social Work and that the governments at all levels should involve social workers in the formulation, execution and implementation of policies and programmes of the government. 

It stated that social workers play a crucial role in addressing the challenges facing individuals, groups and communities in Nigeria and that the primary purpose of social work is to promote problem-solving strategies that enhance the well-being of individuals and communities. 

Speaking at the event, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Beta Edu,  enjoined Nigerian social workers to continue to serve as a platform to amplify diverse voices, share actionable insights and inspire collective action.
