President Bola Tinubu has directed that the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project should be extended through Edo dtate.
The Minister of works, Engr. David Umahi, disclosed this during an inspection of the Benin–Warri dual carriageway bypass.
Umahi said, “Originally, Edo was not on the route, but the President, impressed by governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to infrastructure, insisted that the state must benefit.
”It’s a reward for loyalty, leadership, and performance. This is a special gift to people of Edo.”
Other States benefitting from the project include Lagos (100km), Ogun and Ondo (82km), Akwa Ibom (65km), and Cross River (27km).
On the Benin–Warri dual carriageway bypass, Umahi commended President Tinubu for his swift intervention and commitment to reversing decades of infrastructural decay.
Edo state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who accompanied by the minister on the inspection, thanked President Tinubu for what he discribed as a surprise gift, which according to him, is a turning point in Edo’s infrastructure journey.
