President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on her election as Vice-President of the Airports Council International (ACI) Africa.
The election of Mrs Kuku was ratified during the 34th ACI Africa General Assembly, which held in Lusaka, Zambia, from September 13, 2025 and concludes today.
ACI Africa is the continental arm of ACI, the global trade representative of airports around the world.
In a statement issued yesterday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the FAAN chief for her dedication to raising aviation standards in Nigeria, noting that her leadership has attracted international recognition.
“The sustained efforts and commitment of the FAAN management to making air transport in Nigeria safe, efficient, and reflective of the highest standards have earned global commendation,” Tinubu said.
The President highlighted Mrs Kuku’s trajectory within the global aviation body, recalling that she previously served as Regional Advisor for Africa before becoming a permanent member of the ACI World Governing Board.
He described her new role as a testament to her foresight and professionalism.
Founded in 1991, ACI currently represents more than 2,000 airports in over 170 countries and territories, developing standards, policies, and best practices for airports worldwide.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Mrs Kuku’s new office would further enhance Nigeria’s contributions to global aviation while consolidating reforms at home.
