Tinubu celebrates Nkem Owoh’s commitment to storytelling at 70

President Bola Tinubu has commended veteran Nollywood actor, comedian, singer, and scriptwriter, Nkem Owoh for his commitment to to storytelling, which has not only entertained audiences but also showcased Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

In a statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said this in his felicitations to the veteran Nollywood actor, on his 70th birthday on Friday, February 7, 2025.

He acknowledged Owoh’s significant impact on Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Owoh, widely known as “Osuofia” for his roles in comedies such as Ikuku 1 & 2 and Osuofia in London, has been a prominent figure in Nollywood for many years.

Born in Enugu, Owoh studied Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In 2008, he received the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the Nigerian film, Stronger than Pain.

“Today, we celebrate a true legend whose talent has brought joy to generations of Nigerians and Africans across the globe. Through his iconic roles, particularly as Osuofia, Mr Owoh has etched his name in the annals of our cultural history. He used laughter and creativity to reflect our society’s vibrancy and resilience.

“His work has entertained and united communities through laughter and storytelling. I wish him continued health, happiness, and creative fulfilment in the years ahead.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, I wish Mr Nkem Owoh a joyous 70th birthday celebration. May his infectious spirit continue to inspire the younger generation of entertainers, who already love creating “content” on social media”, the President added.
