Tinubu Appoints Ismaila As Substantive Rector For NCAT

LAGOS – President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Danjuma Ismaila as the substantive Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria.

Ismaila replaced Mr. Joseph Imalighwe who had been in acting capacity since December 13, 2023.

Dr. Ismaila, an expert in air transportation management, transport economic policy, and aviation security, graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, with a degree in Physics in 1989.

A statement by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, Information & Strategy, said that Ismaila before his appointment was a lecturer at the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Katsina State.

Ismaila holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Transportation and has attended many courses, workshops, and seminars on civil aviation management and transportation.

He is a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, the UK, and the Air Transport Research Society, among others.

Before now, no fewer than 35 candidates had applied for to be the rector of NCAT.

Our correspondent gathered that about 14 applicants were from in-house, while 21 others were industry experts outside of the college.

Among the applicants were Imalighwe and some Chief Instructors at NCAT.

In line the new 2022 NCAT Act, Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, had set up a Ministerial Committee to search for a new rector for the college.

Our correspondent gathered that the committee was set up in January and was headed by the Registrar of the college.
