Those who cancelled celebration of our 65th anniversary are in trouble – Lauretta Onochie

Lauretta Onochie, former aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has criticized the decision to forego official celebrations for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, warning that those behind the move have jeopardized their political tenure.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Onochie extended congratulations to Nigerians worldwide, emphasizing that the spirit of independence endures in citizens’ hearts despite the absence of public festivities.

“Happy 65th Independence Anniversary to all Nigerians. Those who cancelled our nationhood celebration are in trouble. Their arrogance has cut their tenure short, two years early. We will assist them,” she wrote.

Aligned with the “Handshake Movement” and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Volunteer Network, Onochie expressed confidence in Nigeria’s political future, stating, “We are the #HandShakeMovement, the ADC Volunteer Network. We #HoldTheGround.

The future is bright with ADC, where Nigerians will celebrate their nationhood and have global representation.

”Although no formal parade took place at Eagle Square in Abuja, Onochie underscored the symbolic significance of the milestone, adding, “They may cancel the parade, but the 65th Independence Anniversary of our beloved Nigeria lives in our hearts. God bless Nigeria.”
