They lacked energy – Ian Wright criticizes Arsenal supporters after West Ham’s 1-0 win

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has criticized the club’s supporters following their Premier League 1-0 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday.

Wright suggested that Arsenal supporters lacked ‘energy’ at the Emirates Stadium during the Gunners’ defeat to West Ham.

Recall that Jarrod Bowen’s first-half goal was enough to secure the win for the Hammers against Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arteta’s men struggled to create clear-cut chances and registered just two shots on target during the encounter.

However, Wright feels Arsenal supporters were too resolute as they failed to put the team under pressure against the visitors.

“I think what you saw with this game is just a little bit of a bridge too far in respect of a team that is defending brilliantly well and we just have not got the ammunition to break them down,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“I didn’t think we had the energy in the crowd today, they seemed to see that there was no energy in the team and we could not put them under the kind of pressure for West Ham to crack, they were too resolute today.

“Again, the manager can’t do any more with what he is got, I believe.”

Asked if Arsenal could still win the Premier League title, Wright added: “You have to have that intention.”

Arsenal will now face Nottingham Forest in their next game on Wednesday.
