Tetracore Energy Group Limited has commissioned its Phase II Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility in Ogun State, expanding its delivery capacity to 6.2 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMscfd).
The new facility advances Nigeria’s move towards cleaner and more affordable energy in line with the Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the commissioning, Oladayo Williams, programme executive at Tetracore Energy Group, said: “The commissioning of Phase II reflects Tetracore’s unwavering commitment to providing clean, cost-effective, and reliable energy solutions. This facility strengthens our ability to support Nigeria’s industries, transport sector, and power needs, while contributing to the country’s broader economic growth in alignment with the Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).”
The facility is located along the Benin-Sagamu expressway in Ogbere Community, Ijebu East Local Government. It is designed to supply compressed natural gas to industries, power plants, and Auto-Gas vehicles across western corridors.
The development builds on the success of Phase I, a 3.1 MMscfd plant commissioned in June 2024, and doubles Tetracore’s capacity to meet demand for clean energy in Nigeria’s industrial and commercial sectors.
Tetracore has combined the expanded compression station with Mobile Refilling Units to provide an uninterrupted supply of compressed natural gas. With this addition, the company has positioned itself to meet the growing needs of large-scale commercial offtakers such as AYM Shafa, Optimal Energy, Pi-CNG buses, and Dangote Cement.
Tetracore has also entered a partnership with Dangote Cement for the supply of 400,000 standard cubic metres (SCM) of CNG to support its logistics operations, while extending supply to Auto CNG users nationwide.
The facility is equipped with safety measures, including automated leak detection systems, continuous pressure monitoring, and QHSE protocols aligned with international standards. These systems reflect the company’s safety-first approach, ensuring expansion is achieved without risks to people, assets, or host communities.
In his goodwill remarks, the managing director of Billgas, a major strategic partner of Tetracore, stated, “We are delighted to partner with Tetracore on this landmark project. This facility is a clear demonstration of what is possible when industry leaders share a common vision for cleaner, more sustainable energy. We are proud of this collaboration and excited about the opportunities it creates for Nigeria’s energy and transportation sectors.”
The event was attended by community leaders, regulators, and government officials. Dignitaries present included the Chairman of Ogbere Ijebu East Local Government, the Baale of Atako Community, representatives of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, financiers, and industry stakeholders.
Tetracore Energy remains one of the largest deployers of Mobile Auto-Gas Refuelling Units nationwide. The successful completion of Phase II reinforces its strategy of innovation, partnerships, and safety in Nigeria’s energy sector.
