The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has approved over N2.5 billion for the Federal University of Transportation Daura (FUTD) in Katsina State.

Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal, Vice Chancellor of the university, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Daura.

He said N1.3 billion of the approved 2025 intervention will be channelled to physical infrastructure and programme upgrades, while about N240 million is earmarked for academic staff training and development.

Adam-Katsayal added that N150 million will support ICT development, N185 million for the library, and N170 million for conference attendance.

He noted that research activities will receive N100 million, project maintenance N180 million, and entrepreneurship centres N85.5 million.

Career centres and units will get N100 million, while N25 million each has been allocated for journal publication and manuscript development.

The V-C also revealed that the university has introduced a cooperative society for staff to facilitate home ownership over the next five to ten years.

He said lands around the university would be made available for investors to build houses, enabling staff across various cadres to own their homes.

He explained that the initiative aims to ensure that university staff do not face housing challenges after retirement.
