Suspected bandits have killed two children and two other residents while abducting several people in a series of attacks across Zamfara state.
The coordinated assaults took place between Sunday night and Monday morning in Gusau and Bukuyyum local government areas.
A counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, said in a post on X Tuesday, that armed men stormed Shemori village, Mada District at about 8:30pm on Sunday and kidnapped six women.
It was also gathered that among abducted victims is the vice chairman of Bukkuyum local government area, Hon. Bala Muhammad Majidadi.
Hours later, early Monday morning, another group of gunmen invaded Kairu community in Zugu district, killing two residents and abducting an unspecified number of people.
In Gusau LGA’s Mada Town, the attackers targeted Hayin Bajumi, where they set ablaze the house of one Aliyu Usman.
The fire claimed the lives of his two children, five-year-old Ishaq Aliyu and two-year-old Jafar Aliyu.
The assailants also kidnapped Usman’s neighbour’s wife along with her one-year-old baby before fleeing the scene.
In a related development, the Defence Headquarters has urged villagers in Sokoto state to ignore the N25m levy demanded by bandit kingpin, Turji Bello.
The DHQ assured the villagers of protection, urging them not to yield to the bandit leader’s threat, as the military were hot on his track and he would soon be eliminated.

Kebbi governor donates N10m to heart disease patient, relocates hospital depts

The Kebbi state governor, Nasir Idris, has donated N10 his visit to the area, family of the patient made an appeal to the governor to offset the medical cost of treatment to the tune of N6 million demanded by the hospital in Abuja.
Out of magnanimity, Comrade Idris, Tuesday directed the immediate remittance of N10 million into the bank account of the patient, who has already undergone surgery, and now recuperating at home in good health.
In a separate development, the Kebbi state government has approved the relocation of six departments from the Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, to the Kebbi Medical Centre, Kalgo, to pave way for modernisation.
The departments are, Medicine, Surgery, Opthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat, ENT, Dental and Physiotherapy.
Those to remain until completion are Accident & Emergency, A&E, Maternity Unit, Paediatrics, Intensive Care Unit, ICU, Dialysis, Laboratory and X-ray.
The Chief Medical Director, CMD, and Permanent Secretary, Dr. Zaki Abubakar Zaki, announced this at a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi, Tuesday.
“Governor Nasir Idris, approved the transformation of Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, into modern edifice to meet the challenges of modern medical care,” he said.

Kefas condoles Idris over mother in-law’s death
Taraba state Governor Agbu Kefas has condoled with Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris on the death of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Hauwa Yakub Usman.
Kefas, in a statement signed Tuesday by his special adviser, media, and digital communications, Emmanuel Bello, and made available to Blueprint in Jalingo, said the minister should take heart and be comforted by the legacy of Hajiya Yakub Usman.
The statement described the deceased as a consumate lover of people who led an exceptional life.
The statement stated that Kefas assured the minister of his continuous support for media excellence in the state, even as he condoled with the entire media community in the country over the loss.
