House of Representatives member representing Borgu/Agwara Federal Constituency of Niger State, Jafaru Mohammad Ali, on Wednesday, warned that the once-thriving Kainji National Park, has fallen under the full control of terrorists.
He therefore called for an immediate military intervention to halt the escalating insecurity threatening the region.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the House of Representatives adopted his motion under Matters of Urgent Public Importance, the visibly distressed lawmaker urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in before the situation spirals out of control.

Hon. Jafaru, who recently survived a brutal attack by the same bandits, lamented that the criminals have completely overrun the park—displacing wildlife rangers, taking over administrative buildings, and converting tourist facilities into operational bases.
“Nobody can enter the park anymore. The National Park has become a haven for terrorists. Residents are being displaced, forced to compromise, or killed,” he said.
He warned that failure to act swiftly could result in the total domination of the constituency by the criminals, who currently “operate openly and unchallenged.”
The lawmaker further expressed concern that Kainji National Park, which spans multiple states, has become a launchpad for coordinated attacks across Niger, Kebbi, and Kwara States, extending even into neighbouring Benin Republic.
“Many of the terrorists are foreign fighters moving through interconnected forest reserves to strengthen their hold on the region,” he added.
Hon. Jafaru called on security agencies to immediately reclaim the park and restore safety for residents who have endured relentless attacks.
