Terrell Williams, the defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
This was announced by Mike Vrabel, the head coach of New England, during a press conference on Friday, September 26, 2025.

During the press conference, Mike Vrabel revealed that the diagnosis is why Terrell Williams has been absent from the team.
According to Mike Vrabel, efforts are underway to support Terrell Williams’ treatment and help him regain his health.
“We wanna send our regards and publicly let everybody know that’s what he’s dealing with. When he’s ready to talk, he will talk on his behalf “.He stated.
It would be recalled that Terrell Williams joined the New England Patriots as defensive coordinator on January 22, 2025, reuniting with head coach Mike Vrabel, with whom he previously worked under the Tennessee Titans.
Previously, he joined the Detroit Lions as defensive line coach and run game coordinator in February 2024, where he played a key role in shaping the team’s top-10 defense.
Earlier, Williams spent six seasons with the Titans, serving as defensive line coach and later assistant head coach, defensive line coach.
His NFL coaching journey also includes stints with the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins as defensive line coach.
He has also worked with the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans, developing talented players like Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake into Pro Bowl selections.
Additionally,Williams is respected in coaching circles for his defensive acumen, mentorship of players and younger coaches, and perseverance through adversity.
