Teenage Farmer Shot Dead In Fresh Farmer-Herder Clash In Borno


A teenage farmer has lost his life after a violent clash with a herder in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

The incident was said to have occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Friday in Jatori village, according to accounts gathered by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to reports, the herder allegedly directed his cattle into a millet and beans farm belonging to the victim, later identified as 18-year-old Isaye Kundili.

The altercation reportedly started when Kundili tried to drive the cattle away from his farm. In the course of the confrontation, the herder allegedly shot him in the chest with a bow and arrow before escaping from the area.

He was quickly taken to the Primary Health Care Centre in Gubio, where he was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment. His remains were handed over to family members for burial in line with Islamic traditions.

Confirming the incident, the Borno State Police Command stated that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect. The police also revealed that the manhunt is being carried out in collaboration with the herders’ union.
