Mr Seun Dania, the Managing Director, Alpha Geek Technologies, has hailed the Federal Government for its commitment to advancing e-governance and digital transformation.
This, he described as a bold step toward modernising public service delivery in Nigeria.
Dania, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos, said that the government’s ongoing digital reforms were improving transparency, efficiency and access to essential services.
The National Digital Economy and e-Governance Bill is currently before the National Assembly.
It is designed to provide a comprehensive legal framework for Nigeria’s burgeoning digital economy, covering electronic transactions, data protection, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure.
Dania noted that the Bill would fasten and improve government in a different and unique way.
“The current administration’s drive for e-governance is commendable and forward-thinking as it shows that the government recognises technology as the foundation for effective governance in the 21st century.
“Digital transformation is not just about convenience but it is about accountability and when processes are automated, it becomes harder for corruption and inefficiency to thrive.
“What we are witnessing now is a gradual but steady shift toward a system where citizens can engage the government easily and get timely responses to their needs,” he said.
Dania also called for deeper collaboration between the public and private sectors to sustain progress in the country’s digital economy.
“Government cannot achieve e-governance alone as the private sector must be part of the conversation to share expertise, infrastructure and innovation.
“Public-Private Partnerships would fast-track the adoption of smart technologies that can improve public administration and service delivery.
“This collaboration will also open new opportunities for startups and young innovators to contribute to nation building through tech solutions,” he said.
He further emphasised importance of capacity building among civil servants to ensure the sustainability of digital reforms.
“No digital system can succeed without capable hands managing it. So, we need to invest heavily in training government workers to use new tools effectively.
“Beyond technology, e-governance is about mindset embracing openness, data-driven decision-making and citizen engagement,” he said. (NAN) (http://www.nannews.ng)
