Tears as Fish Magnate is laid to rest in Anambra

It was a day of grief and sorrow in Eziakpu Village, Ikenga, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, as the remains of slain businessman, Mr. Martins Ifesinachi Onyekesi, popularly known as Fish Magnet, was laid to rest.

Onyekesi, a well-known fish processor and seller who used social media to promote his trade, was brutally killed last month after being abducted by unknown assailants. His body was later dumped in a nearby town, with his family instructed to retrieve it.

His burial, which was held on Thursday, drew family members, friends, sympathisers, and community leaders, all of whom wept bitterly as his body was lowered into the ground. The ceremony was brief and solemn, featuring prayers by the family at his graveside.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, attended on behalf of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, highlighting the gravity of the incident and the government’s concern.

Onyekesi’s tragic death has sparked widespread outrage. Notably, activist Martins Otse, popularly called Very Dark Man, visited the state and led a protest demanding justice and decisive action to curb insecurity and killings in Anambra.
