LAGOS – The E J. Alex Kehinde Taylor family of Lagos has taken possession of the large expanse of land at the Abule Egba area of the state, which has been in dispute between it and the state government.

This was disclosed through a statement signed by Barrister Olalekan F. Ojo, Managing Partner, Platinum & Taylor Hill LP, counsel to the Taylor family, and made available to Daily Independent on Thursday.

Barrister Ojo said the take over followed the enforcement of a consent judgment dekuvered by Justice O. A. Ogala, and enforced by the Sheriffs of the court

Ojo, in the statement, stressed that the government must accept the full enforcement of the judgment and cease all obstruction, illegal revocation to frustrate justice without compensation.

The statement also maintained that attempts by the government to circumvent the legal process would amount to a blatant disregard of the court.

It added that the court also ordered the government must refrain from any further encroachment or unlawful possession or disobedience of the order.

It also urged the Lagos State government to respect the rule of law, judicial independence and demonstrate respect for judicial authority.

The statement noted that the case is no longer just about the Taylor family, but a defining test for justice, even as it urged the government to act with honour and intergrity by respecting the enforcement of the the judgment.

It stressed: “Judicial intergrity remains the foundation of democracy and must be never be undermined.

“Let this enforcement serve as a clear message: Government that ignored court rulings is setting a dangerous precedent that threatens the supremacy of the law.”
