Szoboszlai’s Superb Free-Kick Earns Liverpool Victor

Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning free-kick was enough to earn Liverpool victory against Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League game at Anfield.

The Reds are the only team to walk away from their first three fixtures with nine points and move above previous leaders Chelsea.

The hosts had the ball in the Anfield net on the hour mark, with Hugo Ekitike bundling it home following a rebound from Florian Wirtz’s shot, but the assistant raised his flag and the striker was deemed offside.

Both teams pushed for a late winner, as Arsenal threw captain Martin Odegaard and debutant Eberechi Eze on from the bench, but it was Liverpool who got over the line after some divine inspiration from their midfielder-turned-right-back.

With just under 10 minutes remaining, the Hungarian midfielder unleashed a 32-yard strike from a dead ball that swerved past David Raya, handing Arne Slot’s side a much needed victory.

It was the first goal Arsenal have conceded this season, and once again telling their struggles at Anfield, where they have not tasted league victory under Arteta.

Liverpool now sit top of the table with nine points from three games.
