The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has entered a strategic partnership with Naija Disruptors LLC, marking a significant milestone in advancing sports media coverage, youth development, and global storytelling initiatives in Nigeria.

While signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at SWAN National Secretariat in Abuja, SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, underscored the importance of high level collaboration in advancing sports development through sustained media awareness creation.
Represented by SWAN Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, the President said with concerted efforts geared towards raising the bar in sports reportage, hope abound for Nigerian sports to regain profitable dominance in the comity of Nations.

Talking about the collaboration between SWAN and Naija Disruptors LLC, the SWAN President said, “This collaboration signifies SWAN’s commitment to elevating Nigerian sports and providing a platform to showcase the immense talent and potential within our nation.
“Partnering with Naija Disruptors enables us to connect with a global audience and foster meaningful initiatives for the growth of sports in Nigeria.”
President Benjamin noted that SWAN was always ready to partner both government and private institutions in publicising and opening vista of more opportunities inherent in sports development.
Earlier, the Founder and CEO of Naija Disruptors LLC Chuka Erike said, “We are excited to partner with SWAN to tell compelling Nigerian sports stories that resonate globally. This partnership is an opportunity to empower youth, celebrate our sports history, and promote innovative projects like flag football and NFL Africa to a wider audience.”
This partnership aims to enhance SWAN’s international presence, amplify Nigerian sports narratives globally, and strengthen local and international engagement through strategic initiatives.
Key focus areas include youth sports development, promoting sports like flag football, and leveraging Naija Disruptors’ extensive global network.
As part of the collaboration, both organizations will co-develop SWAN’s 60th-anniversary projects, including a documentary celebrating 60 Nigerian sports legends and an editorial series highlighting six decades of Nigerian sports history.
SWAN will provide media access and recognition for Naija Disruptors’ initiatives, while Naija Disruptors will utilise its U.S. and international media reach to enhance SWAN’s visibility, facilitate connections, and secure global partnerships.
This partnership reflects a shared vision of using sports as a tool for storytelling, development, and global recognition.
National Financial Secretary, Mrs Ijeoma Peter-Nwante and the Secretary of SWAN Diamond Jubilee Committee, Mr. Samuel Ahmedu, were also present during the MoU signing.
