The Kano State Police Command has confiscated more than 100,000 suspected illicit pills, valued at approximately ₦82 million, in an operation conducted at Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, Kano.
The command stated that the operation occurred on September 20, 2025, based on reliable intelligence regarding a vehicle believed to be transporting cartons of intoxicants.
In a statement on Saturday, police spokesman SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed that operatives tracked the vehicle to a house where it was parked and apprehended 19-year-old Usman Umar.

According to him, a search of the premises resulted in the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets, totaling 60,300 pieces worth ₦60.3 million, and 299 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules, comprising 44,850 pieces valued at ₦22.4 million.
“This successful operation highlights the Command’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State.
“The suspect is currently helping investigation to uncover the network behind this illegal trade and bring all culprits to justice,” Kiyawa said.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised residents for their alertness and timely tips, which were instrumental in achieving the breakthrough.
“The Command urges the public to continue providing credible information to the police, assuring them of prompt action and confidentiality. Together, we can build a safer and drug-free Kano State,” the statement added
