Suspect Arrested as Police Intercept Illicit Drugs Worth N82m in Kano – Daily Trust


The Kano State Police Command has intercepted suspected illicit drugs valued at over N82 million, marking a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in the state.

The operation, carried out on September 20, 2025, followed credible intelligence that a suspicious vehicle loaded with cartons of illicit drugs was parked at Rimin Auzinawa Quarters in Kano.

Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, officers swiftly moved to the location, cordoned off the premises, and arrested a 19-year-old suspect, Usman Umar, believed to be connected to the drugs.

A search of the house led to the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets containing 60,300 pieces, valued at N60.3 million. 299 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules comprising 44,850 pieces, valued at N22.4 million.

The total value of the seized items was estimated at N82.7 million.

Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the suspect is currently assisting investigations to uncover the syndicate behind the illicit trade.

Commending the vigilance of residents, CP Bakori assured that the Command remains committed to flushing out drug peddlers and ensuring a safer Kano.

He urged members of the public to continue providing credible information, pledging swift and confidential action by the police.
