Ebenezer Akinsanmiro earned the Man of the Match Award for his impressive performance against Fiorentina…
Pisa coach Alberto Gilardino has praised Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro for his performance in their goalless draw against Fiorentina on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Newly-promoted Pisa were the underdogs when they welcomed Fiorentina to Arena Garibaldi on Sunday.
However, they gave a good account of themselves, limiting Fiorentina to just two goal attempts. Pisa could have even won the game, if VAR had not ruled out Henrik Meister’s goal for an infringement.
Nigerian midfielder Akinsanmiro was a standout performer, as he was rated 7.5. The 20-year-old registered 42 touches, two key passes, two successful dribbles, one interception, and five tackles.
His performance even earned him the Man of the Match award at full time.

After the game, Pisa coach Gilardino, who used to be one of the top strikers in Italy during his days, was quite appreciative of his midfielders, including Akinsanmiro.

“The three in the middle did a dirty job, running hard and showing quality. I didn’t say anything to them in the locker room; all we need is a win,” the former AC Milan man said.
“The team made the fans proud after a performance like that. Caracciolo, Touré, and Akinsanmiro—who was a driving force—were superb in every way. Along with the one against Bergamo, it was one of our best games.”
