Super Falcons: Madugu Lists Ajibade, Nnadozie, Oshoala, Others For Women’s AFCON Qualifiers Against Benin

Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has released a 21-player list for Nigeria’s final qualifying battle against the Benin Republic in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The two-legged tie will determine who joins the continent’s best at next year’s tournament in Morocco, which also serves as Africa’s route to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Benin will play host in the first leg at Stade Kegue in Lomé, Togo, as they do not have a Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved stadium. The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.

Ten-time champions Nigeria remain favourites to advance, boasting a squad filled with experience and firepower. Leading the team is captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who was named Player of the Tournament at the last Women’s AFCON in Morocco.

Ajibade, who recently found the back of the net for Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Women’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid, will be counted on once again to inspire the side.

Also on the roster is goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who has been crowned Africa’s Goalkeeper of the Year twice in a row. The list features defenders Michelle Alozie, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Osinachi Ohale, as well as midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Jennifer Echegini, and Deborah Abiodun.

Up front, Madugu has called on the experience of Asisat Oshoala, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Esther Okoronkwo, alongside rising talents Folashade Ijamilusi and Kafayat Mafisere.
