Werder Bremen have confirmed that Nigerian defender Felix Agu has successfully undergone surgery following an injury sustained in their Bundesliga clash against St. Pauli last weekend.
Agu was stretchered off the field just before halftime, and subsequent medical examinations revealed a syndesmosis ligament injury.
The 24-year-old left-back has since undergone surgery and is now set to begin his rehabilitation process.

Club confirms recovery update
Werder Bremen shared a photo of Agu after the procedure on their official website, confirming that the operation went as planned.
However, the defender is expected to be sidelined for several months as he recovers.
AFCON participation in doubt
The injury casts doubt over Agu’s availability for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria will aim to secure a fourth continental title.
Agu has only been capped once by the Super Eagles, and was expected to make the Nigerian squad for the ongoing qualifiers before sustaining the injury.
