Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has reiterated his commitment to Atalanta following a turbulent summer in which he came close to leaving the New Balance Arena.
Lookman scored his first Champions League goal of the season on Wednesday as Atalanta swept aside Eintracht Frankfurt 3–0 at Deutsche Bank Park, a performance that also reunited the attacking trio that won the 2024 Europa League, with Gianluca Scamacca now fully recovered from an ACL injury.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the victory, Lookman, whose contract runs until 2027, made it clear he has moved on from the off-season controversies that strained relations with the club hierarchy.
“I think it’s important right now to get the victory, as 3-0 away from home is a really good result,” Lookman said.

Reflecting on the dynamics in Atalanta’s attack, he added, “It’s very free and easy playing with Scamacca and De Ketelaere because they are quality players. We just have to keep working and improving as a team. We take this performance and hope to carry it on in the league.”
Addressing his summer situation directly, Lookman stressed his focus is firmly on Atalanta’s future.
“What happened in the summer is in the past. Some people know exactly what happened; others don’t.
What’s certain is that right now I’m focused on where I am and on winning as many games as possible with Atalanta.”
The Nigerian winger also praised new coach Raffaele Palladino, who replaced Ivan Juric this season, highlighting how the Italian’s philosophy complements his style of play.
