BAUCHI – Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State have warned one Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad, a social critic and an activist to show respect to political office holders and refrain from using derogatory statements that could tarnish the country’s image, particularly the North.
Recall that Hajiya Naja’atu in a video that went viral on TikTok, alleged that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, had once discredited the person of President Bola Tinubu; Senator George Akume, and Senator Orji Kalu.representing Abia North in the National Assembly.
In her video, Hajiya Naja’atu alleged that Ribadu made the statement when he was the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). She alleged it was when President Tinubu, George Akume, and Orji Kalu were state governors that the former EFCC Boss made the statement.
The APC Women who made the call at a press conference at APC State Secretariat in Bauchi, stressed on the need for decorum in public discourse, noting that respect for leaders reflects positively on the nation’s reputation.
Speaking on behalf of the Women, Hajiya Murjanatu Aliyu, the State APC women leader condemned the irresponsible act of Hajiya Naja’atu against leaders of the country, saying that she should respect those occupying sensitive positions in the country, adding that by doing so Nigerians will learn to uphold the dignity of leaders, thereby projecting a positive image of Nigeria to the international community.
“We, women of APC are totally against the inciting statements made by one Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad against our leaders that is projecting the country in a negative light. We are not going to tolerate it because what she is doing is wrong, no responsible woman should be given to careless talk, particularly against men.
“A Leader is always a leader and should be accorded respect, therefore we are demanding that she retrace her step by retracting those derogatory words against our leaders in the country,” she said.
Also speaking, Hajiya Rabi Danladi, called on Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed to refrain from using vulgar language against leaders, saying that she is seeking for relevance in the government of President Bola Tinubu.
“We will not sit, fold our hands and watch a single person disrespect and blackmail our leaders for relevance. As a woman, she thinks she is making sense by insulting responsible leaders like President Tinubu, the Vice President and Ribadu. We are giving her time to apologize or we will be forced to take the next line of action that may not augur well for her, this is just a warning,” she said.
On her part , Hajiya Amina Maidalla also said that men are always ahead of women, calling on Hajiya Naja’atu to make consultations with other women across the country to tackle issues rather than damaging the image of leaders.
“We, APC women in Bauchi State are giving her time to go to those leaders she is castigating and tender an unreserved apology.No responsible woman should shout on men particularly leaders, no religion tolerates that kind of behavior that give a woman the right to be insulting or use derogatory statements against leaders.
“We will not tolerate Hajiya Naja’atu
over her malicious comments.She should refrain from washing her dirty linens on leaders of this country, ” Maidalla said.
