Eshanekpe Israel, aka, Akpodoro, Mayor of Urhoboland, and former militant in the Niger Delta, has told Nasir El Rufai, former governor, Kaduna State not look towards the South South for any support against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The former governor has been out lately fielding interviews excoriating his party, All Progressives Congress, APC, and the president, alleging marginalization of his interest.
But Akpodoro insists that his outburst not withstanding, the South-South geopolitical zone are not sold on his message.
The former militant made this statement in Abuja on Monday after El-rufai’s statement urging the North to collaborate with the South-South to seize power from the incumbent’s administration in 2027.
The Mayor claims to speak for fellow militant leaders in the zone.
“El-rufai was presumptuous to believe he had any following in the North, let alone in the South-South where they had made the mistake of opposed one of their own, in 2015, in the person of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“We will not repeat such folly again in the South South,” expressed Akpodoro .
He further queried the former governor on his accomplishments while in office.
“You left sorrow, suffering and bloodshed in Kaduna.
“Southern Kaduna is now heaving a sigh of relief after you left and are now greatful to President Tinubu” he added.
The Mayor emphasized that Northerners are now more astute in recognizing that El-rufai and his associates prioritize personal gain over the welfare of the masses.
He accused El-rufai of governing with an iron fist, which nearly cost the APC victory in Kaduna State.
“I am urging El-rufai to seek support elsewhere and not in the South-South zone where he failed to remember while he was at the Bureau of Public Enterprises,” he said.
