Six Nabbed Over Alleged Attack On Benue Police Officers


The Nigeria Police Force has arrested six individuals in connection with a recent attack on Police Tactical Teams at the Agu Centre in the Katsina-Ala/Ukum area of Benue State.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the assault, believed to have been carried out by armed herdsmen and local militias, occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025.

“The attack, which occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, resulted in the death of three police officers, while seven others are still missing,” the statement read.

Hundeyin noted that the detained suspects are in custody and providing valuable information. He added that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has ordered the deployment of additional tactical resources to the area, assuring that “no stone will be left unturned in restoring peace and security in Benue State.”

The Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Innocent Emenari, is leading the on-ground operations to locate missing officers and apprehend fleeing suspects.

CSP Hundeyin also quoted the IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who condemned the attack as “cruel, unwarranted, and an affront on the good people of Benue State.”

The police further urged residents to remain calm and continue supporting security agencies as operations proceed.
