Six Girls Kidnapped, Vigilante Killed As Bandits Strike In Niger

A devastating attack by bandits in Pandogari Community, Rafi Local Government Area of of Niger State, has left one vigilante dead and six girls between the ages of 15 and 17 kidnapped.

According to eyewitnesses, the bandits invaded the community in the dead of night, moving from house to house in search of victims. The vigilante, identified as Aliyu Aminu, was killed during the attack.

As stated by Daily Trust, residents reported that the bandits entered the community through the Mamman Kontagora Technical College, Pandogari, and made their way to the nearby Kwangel Forest with their captives.

This attack marks the third incident in the area within a week, sparking concerns about the growing insecurity in the region.

Local authorities have also called for increased cooperation between Niger and Kaduna state governments to address the issue.

The Chairman of Rafi LGA, Ayuba Usman Katako, confirmed the attack, stating, “It was true that bandits attacked Pandogari community. In fact, that was not the only attack in the last two weeks. The Wednesday attack was the third one.”

The Niger State House of Assembly member representing Rafi Constituency, Zubairu Isma’ila Zannan Kwangoma, highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that terrorists had kidnapped 122 people and killed two in Rafi LGA within a month.
