In spite of government’s efforts to ensure a better society, Christian women have been challenged of the need to use their pivotal role as builders to help shape and rescue the country from further moral and spiritual decay.
The Zonal Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Everlasting Light Zone, Lugbe, Abuja, Dr. David Okoror threw the challenge on Saturday during the church’s Zonal Sisters’ Convention, tagged, “Anchoring on the Sure and Steadfast Hope”.
Admitting that the nation is going through a lot, Dr. Okoror said when women pray and guide their families on the path of righteousness, the country will get out of the quagmire.
The clergyman reminded women that they are not just home builders alone but “builders of the society and builders of the nation.
“The society is going through a very hard time where children are going haywire. We have crimes and corruption, and the women are the home builders. They (women) are the one that are in charge of their husbands and the children, so they have a lot of influence.”
Expressing hope for the country, Okoror urged women, especially mothers of faith to go on their knees and pray for the country, maintaining, “there is hope for Nigeria as soon our women can pray and do the right things.”
He also urged Nigerians to place their hope in the Lord Jesus Christ, stressing that government can give promises and raise hope of the citizen, but noted that the primary source of hope that will never disappoint is Jesus.
In her charge, the wife of the Pastor in Charge of Province 11 in RCCG, Pastor (Mrs.) Mary Folorunsho admonished women to put their trust in the Lord and also pray for those in positions of authority, especially those in government.
She also urged them to embrace government initiatives, policies and programmes, stressing that God put those in position of authority at all levels to initiate positive programmes that could be beneficial to the citizenry, hence women should embrace it.
Folorunsho said: “I am encouraging all of us that there are lots of benefits when we put our trust in the Lord, no matter what you are facing God is ready to turn it around and to make you to laugh and to share your testimony.
“I want to encourage women around the world and especially in Nigeria that God loves you, give your life to Jesus, and they should not go against the government.
“Whatever the government is doing, God is the one that put them there, be praying for them. I am encouraging all of us that we should not lose hope because there is hope in the Lord. When you have Jesus, you have everything, and your hope will be renewed and restored,” Pastor Folorunsho stated.
Speaking on the focus of the convention, the zonal pastor’s wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Justina Okoror, described the event as transformational for participants, explaining that the event was designed to bring healing to the world, to Nigeria, to the church and to individuals.
The 3-day event featured a visit to orphanage, medical outreach for the participants, special prayers for the nation, special ministration by the zonal women, expert talk on parenting, gospel fitness coach, among others.
